AN ELEPHANT'S BEST FRIEND
Elephants in Africa have a new best friend trying to help save them. Game wardens are using canine detection units to sniff out the illegal wildlife trade in Kenya and Tanzania. Recently eight dogs and their thirteen handlers just graduated from African Wildlife Foundations's Conservation Canine Programme, and are now ready to sniff out illegal ivory. They patrol at border crossing and key eastern Africa airports and seaport, to find ivory and rhino horns before wildlife traffickers can smuggle them out.
