SOUTHERN SEA OTTER IN ELKHORN SLOUGH, MOSS LANDING, CA
A Southern Sea Otter resting in the sea grass. Adults wrap themselves in the grass while they sleep so they don't move with the tides or waves. Mother otters will often wrap their young pups in the grass while they dive for food. This is yet another way that otters use tools to help them survive in a tough environment.
