LIVING DINOSAUR

The green turtle is a large and heavy sea turtle with a wide and smooth carapace, or shell. It lives in tropical and subtropical coastal waters around the world and this one chose the Hawaiian Islands as home. The turtle can weigh up to 700 pounds and they are among the largest turtles in the world. These turtles are herbivors, feeding on sea grasses and algae. The juveniles, however, will also eat invertebrates like crabs, jellyfish, and sponges.
