CATEDRAL DEL CUZCO O CATEDRAL BASILICA DEL LA VIRGIN DE LA ASUNCION

This Cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Ardiocese of Cuzco and was the first Christian church built in Cuzco. Located in the beautiful Plaza de Armas in the capitol, it took almost a century to complete. In addition to bei ng a place of worship, this church has also become home to a significant collection of art and has been designated as an UNESCO World Heritage site.

  • The macaw is a variety of parrot with proportionately larger beaks, and long tails. The Macaws are native to Central America and North America (Mexico), South America an dformerly the Caribbean. Most species are associated with forests, especially rain forests, but others prefer woodland or savannah-like habitats.

  • Macaws eat a variety of foods including seeds, nuts, fruits, pal fruits, leaves, flowers and stems. Wild species may forage widely, over 100 km for some of the larger species. Some foods eaten by Macaws contain toxins which they cannot digest. It has been suggested that parrots and macaws in the Amazon Basin eat clay from exposed river banks to neutralize these toxins.
